"Do you know why I love these pricks so much?", he asked me one day while tending to his cacti plants.
I shook my head and said, "no, why?."
"It's because you can leave them alone, without so much of a water or sunlight, but they still grow. They still prosper. They are unlike any other plants that need constant attention or care. You just have to tend to them once or twice a week and they will be just fine."
He said this with a smile on his face and he looks at me. "I love them because you don't have to take care of them that much because they are strong, and they are beautiful to look at but they have the power to hurt you, but you see you'll only get hurt if you touch them."
I nod my head as I absorb everything he's saying.
"And you know what else?" he continued.
"What?"
"They only bloom once in a while, but their flowers are absolutely mesmerizing."
"I see. That must be nice."
"Yes." he said. "It must be nice to be just like you."
